For the Gastronomically inclined students, the Chef Club offers the ideal platform to experiment, innovate and explore, to tickle the palate and inspire the mind through food, cuisines and state of the art Cooking techniques. Culinary trails, Experiential Dinners, Food Blogs, Slow Food Chapter are some of the few initiatives of the club.

Memorandum of Understanding

A MoU was signed between The BBA-HEM department and “Fans on Stands” (Beatroute and, Singapore who are global leaders in Destination Event Management.

The MoU marks the beginning of International Exposure for BBA-HEM students to participate and learn for a global destination Event Management organization.

Traditional Cake Mixing Ceremony

The cake mixing ceremony is an annual feature of the BBA-HEM department to celebrate fellowship and camaraderie among the teaching and student fraternity.

The Vice Chancellor and the Dean of Management studies felicitated the staff and student of BBA-HEM for the hospitality provided during the UGC committee visit.

Brand Bengaluru Launch

The BHEM students along with our Event partners, Phase1, were involved in the Brand Bengaluru launch. This is an initiative from the Department to scale up the students potential for executing large Events.

Time Management Workshop

As a part of our association with Ibis Novotel, Prof.Smitha from the Department, conducted a session for the Assistant Managers of Ibis Novotel, Bengaluru. This is an initiative of the Department to empower the faculty to take up higher responsibilities.

Culinary Symposium on Millets

Dr.Jaykumar and Prof.Nandakumar attended a Culinary symposium on Millets titled “#EatSmart”, organized by MS.Ramaiah University and the Government of Karnataka. We were one among the only 2 Universities invited for this forum, as the Government wanted suggestions on marketing the proposed” International Millet Day” trade fair to be held in mid-January,2018.

Event Club Launch – CATALYST

BBA-HEM Event Forum and Club ensures all the activities conducted by the Department are well planned and executed.

Student Achievement

Mr.Sreesyam, a student of the Second Semester won the Bronze Medal at the “International Millet Fair” competition, a Government of Karnataka Initiative to promote local food and culture.

Alumni Interaction

Mr.Saumitra Chaturvedi, Director-Operations (Accor Group) an alumnus of the Department (2001 graduate), addressed the students. He stressed on the importance of career in the Hospitality industry, new opportunities in the trade, and working out of ones’s comfort Zone to be successful.

Dance India Dance auditions/ZEE TV

The Second Semester BBA-HEM students were involved in the audition process of Dance India Dance auditions, a ZEE TV initiative. This exposure helped showcase their operational talent. Students get a chance to network with major Event Management companies and an opportunity to manage and execute large scale Events.

University Slow Food Day

The “University Slow Food Day” was celebrated at the University.  Dr.Trilocahn Sastry, IIM Bangalore Professor and Former Dean-IIMB and Dean of Management Studies, Dr.Vijay kumar inaugurated the session. Chefs from reputed 5 stars hotels in Bangalore were invited to motivate the students. Slow food is organized to promote local cuisine, Support local farm produce, Savour regional flavors, Inculcate the sense of social entrepreneurship amongst students and support Food Sustainability

Wine Appreciation

A wine appreciation session was conducted by ENOTECA and the Karnataka Wine Board. The session helped the students to understand the nuance of Viticulture and the business of the Wine Industry.

Morde chocolate workshop

Students of Second, fourth and Sixth Semester underwent a 3 day workshop on Chocolates titled “Expressions”. This highly technical session was to equip the students on Working with chocolates, different presentation styles, tempering techniques, and chocolate display aesthetics.

Student Achievements

The BBA-Hospitality and Event Management Students were Runners-up at the National Level Wedding Cake Display competition held at the Orion mall.

Alumni progression

Mr. Bhargav SK, our Alumni made the Department proud by being recognized by the MD and CEO of the Oberoi group (India’s most awarded and luxury chain of Hotels) as an Exemplary employee.

Experiential Learning at PES School Chittoor

Students of BBA-HEM were deputed to the Chittoor School Campus as a part of their Curriculum to manage the School catering Facility and also suggest healthy menu alternatives to the School Children.

Grover’s Vineyard Industrial visit

The second semester Students visited Grover’s Vineyards. Key Learning’ were Understand types of Grapes, Working of a Vineyard, Winery Operation, Manufacturing and Aging Process of wines, Career Opportunity in the Trade, Appreciation Techniques

“Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration”, Manipal “Quest” – National Level Hospitality Competition

Our students won the Front office competition at the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hospitality Administration, Manipal, an Inter-Collegiate competition.

The competition was primarily on, Role Play, Team Work, Situation Handling and Managing Crisis at Workplace
